A Call to Action

"Do thus..."

It is fitting that very first verb we find we find in Seneca's 120 Moral Epistles in simply fac, the imperative of the verb "do". Stoic virtue requires action, and the development of the virtues requires deliberate practice and habituation. This practice, often likened to daily physical exercise, is repeatedly emphasized in Seneca's Epistles and Moral Essays, as well is in the Meditations of Marcus Aurelius and the Enhiridion ("Handbook") of Epictetus. Every moment is a opportunity for action, an occasion for the conditioning of oneself.
